I bought this car somewhere around 2004 or 2005. Never seen one before, didn't know they existed. But as a car guy, browsing classifieds is something I enjoy doing. This car popped up, and I was instantly in love. Such an odd looking car, something about the slope of the trunk and the long tail lights I was utterly enamored with. Still am.

When I got the car it was mostly original, and in ok shape but wasn't running all that well and had a few areas of significant body damage. There's a long story to tell about the car, but the TL;DR version is that after driving it around for a few months, the car ended up sitting for a long time before I was able to get to work on it. Once I did, I got it going with a 7M-GTE engine swap, Megasquirt II engine management, and a W58 transmission.

As of about 4 years ago, the car looked like this:

Some areas of rust were beginning to bubble through the paint, and I was tired of the dents and the car generally looking old and busted. So I decided to repaint and do all the work myself. Never done body work, so it was a learning curve but I'm nearly done. Just need a pro to re-install the windows and chrome. It's a challenging job to get right.

Color is a 1973 option called Blue Star Sapphire. It was difficult to lay down correctly, and I made some mistakes but looks good enough for me.

My mom drove one when I was a youngster! Older model, but LOVE IT! Good memories. I've always had it in my head to grab one if i ever came across one...but...like you said...you just don't
Nobody has ever heard of them. 🤙
